Halloween this year brought on some fun activities. My Halloween
started early with a trick-or-treating event at OneWorld (internships
site). Every department at the clinic was assigned a portion of part of
the clinic to decorate with a theme. We started talking about it
months in advance, planning hard (kinda) so that ours wasn't as lame as
last year (so I was told). Our ideas ranged from Angry Birds, to Brave,
to Dora the Explorer...but in the end we settled on "Under the Sea."
We thought that would provide a lot of creativity, and facilitate a lot
of costume ideas. I was told I'd be the mermaid, and we also had an
octopus, scuba diver, fish, and turtle. I think the kids were
disappointed that there was no "Nemo." Overall, it turned out good.
The kids LOVED it (despite there being no Nemo), and kept saying that it
was really like being in the water. Sadly, we didn't win the best
theme (the kids vote). That went to the "Angry Birds" hallway. Other
themes included Pac Man, Lion King, Brave, Wizard of Oz, Tangled...and a
couple others. It was fun!
The day before Halloween, Justin and I carved our pumpkin. Well, not so much carved, more like "chisled" our pumpkin. We weren't cool enough to cut it all the way through. But hey, it kept the pumpkin good so we could use it to cook with :)
And then while we were waiting for kids to come trick-or-treating on Halloween (we got a total of two), Justin helped me work on our first holiday decoration. I had seen this simple decoration on Pinterest and decided to give it a go since it wouldn't be too expensive. The picture is kind of dark, so if you can't tell, it's a Thanksgiving decoration. It went up right when Halloween was over. After all, we have to get all the use out of it we can :)
Last but not least, Justin and I were FINALLY able to go to a football game together. It's been a challenge since I'm the only one with season tickets. Luckily, we found someone who wasn't selling their ticket for too much. It was a cold one, but we had fun. GO BIG RED!!!
