Christmas Time

These first few pictures are of the decorations that Jami made out of a garland, string of lights, and some holly berries.  Then we got NOEL letters as stalking hangers.

We also decorated a ginger break house with some frosting that Jami made and candy.  The frosting was like a rock after it dried.  This made us want to enter a ginger bread house next year into the Winter Quarters Visitors Center Show.

Well, of course the first time it snows in Nebraska was the night we had planned to begin the trip out to Utah.  With blizzard warnings, we had decided to push the trip out one day.  Much to our dismay, however, the freeway was closed all through Nebraska.  We didn't anticipate that the roads would be closed for too long, and as soon as a highway next to the freeway opened up we decided to take our chances.  So, we drove on snow-covered roads to Kearney, but the freeway was clear the rest of the way.  We made it to Hershey to spend the night with family before waking up early the next morning and finishing the trek out to Utah.

Our time in Utah was spent getting ready for, and celebrating, Christmas.  We spent Christmas Eve and Christmas day with family.  We also decided to hit all the temples in the area that Justin had never been to.  Ogden was closed, but we were able to hit the  Bountiful, Mt. Timpanogos, Draper, and Oquirrih Mt.

Then we decorated some sugar cookies with the family and Jami made a Nebraska cookie, it was pretty fancy.

These are some of the pictures that we took of the drive home through Wyoming of the sun rising.  Pictures do not do real justice of the colors with the cheap camera we have.

This picture is threw the fog which was unique and made the sun a different color.

  1. Just so you know Jackson was very interested in eating your gingerbread house! So if there was any candy missing, it was probably him when I wasn't looking! Glad you made it safely to Utah.
