Justin and I got to go to Utah to visit family for a weekend. My sister from Virginia was out there visiting, and it's only about once every 2-3 years that we all get together. It was a fairly eventful weekend. Justin and I flew in late Wednesday night (and let me tell you, it definitely beats driving). Thursday was spent up at Snowbird. It's a ski resort, but during the summer they have some rides, ropes courses, and other things that we did. I was bummed because our camera ran out of batteries, so we didn't get much to document. Justin's favorite was the alpine slide, and I'm sad I didn't get a pic of him doing it. And actually, I should say it was his favorite ride, until this happened:
This is his knee. He also scraped up his hand pretty good. He was getting too much adrenaline, I guess, and went to fast around a turn. He got thrown off his cart, and got burned on the track. It'll take time to heal, for sure.
For lunch, Justin and I took a ski lift up to the top of the mountain. This is me trying to look natural and take a selfie. I'm not very good at it. At the top of the mountain was a tunnel that took you to the other side....
And we came out to look over the other side of the canyon.
And why Justin wouldn't want to live anywhere with mountains, I'll never know.
Friday we were able to go to the new Ogden temple open house. They had completely gutted the whole thing, and it looks amazing now. For those that don't know, it looked like the Provo temple, but it definitely doesn't look like that anymore. I thought it was beautiful...but what temple isn't?
The rest of Friday was an adult game night. And the girls totally won...just sayin'.
Saturday was a little more chill. Justin and I were able to go visit Kyle and Stephanie, friends we met in Lincoln. And, we went to the temple (it's been way too long!), and then out to lunch with one of my friends from high school and her husband. Saturday night was a big birthday/baptism/baby blessing bash with my extended family. Not everyone was there, but Justin still counted over 60 attendees...so it was pretty crowded.
Sunday was the baby blessing of my newest niece, Adelaide. After church we quickly took a family picture....
And then I rushed Justin to the airport. This was probably the easiest goodbye for me so far. It helped that I was going home to family, and not going to be by myself, and I knew he'd get to come home between semesters in roughly a week. So that made it a little more bearable :)
I stuck around in Utah until Monday. It was fun being around family.
