The New Addition- Evalyn Jean Blomstedt

Well as some of you man or may not know Jami delivered our baby girl, Evalyn Jean Blomstedt, on the 13 June 2015 at 8:52pm in Lincoln, Nebraska at Saint Elizabeth Regional Medical Center. She did a stellar job and I was super impressed. I will give you the shorter version from the dad perspective.  Jami was super blessed during her whole pregnancy. She had very few symptoms to deal with while I was gone in Scottsbluff for school thanks to Heavenly Father.  She complained little to none till the last week of pregnancy.  As the weeks and months pressed on she grew larger in many ways but she was dedicated to continually exercising and eating healthy.  Monday, June 8th, she started to have pain in her groin area, but by Tuesday she was back to normal.  We had her due date appointment and things looked normal and thought we would be back next week for another appointment.  She started to discharge her mucus plug, but had very little issues with pain.  Thursday she started to have the pain in her groin area, but did not really get much rest that night. Friday was more noticeable pain and another restless/sleepless night.  Very early Saturday morning we timed the contractions but they were short, 20-45 seconds 5-7 min apart, but  she was able to get some rest mid-morning.  Then the contractions were 30-60sec about every 4-5 min but the intensity was not there yet.  The uterus was building its tone.  As the day progressed so did the intensity.  At 5;44pm, we called the mid-wife and talked about how ami was sleep deprived for two nights and contractions did not seem to be intensifying/lasting long enough. The mid-wife said to go to the hospital and she wold see if she was progressing or if something was need to help the process along.  I got the last minute things together and we headed to the hospital and checked in by 6:30pm.  She was placed in a room and was checked dilated at 6cm, 80% effaced, and -1.  I turned on some music and rubbed her back and put pressure when contractions came. The contractions picked up after being checked, and she leaned on a table with pillows and within 45 min she felt a huge rush(like she was going to have to push) and her water broke. She went to the restroom and then  was on her hands and knees on the bed for transition, about 30 minutes. They were going to put her in the whirlpool but she progressed super quick and was read to push. The rest is pretty much history. She gave me a daughter on day 1391, if you know that song.
